Sources & Methodology
Last updated: April 2026
Our Sources
All legal information across the KnowMyRights portfolio is drawn exclusively from primary Canadian legislative and regulatory sources. We reference federal statutes through the Justice Laws Website (laws-lois.justice.gc.ca), Ontario provincial legislation through Ontario.ca, and tribunal decisions through CanLII. We do not rely on secondary sources, legal blogs, or news articles as primary references.
How We Verify Information
Every legal claim on our platforms is cross-referenced against the official text of the relevant statute or regulation. We verify section numbers, thresholds, deadlines, and procedural requirements against the current consolidated version of each statute. Where tribunal decisions are cited, we confirm the citation through CanLII (Canadian Legal Information Institute). Source URLs link directly to official government websites so readers can verify information independently.
Content Review Process
Content is reviewed whenever relevant legislation is amended or when new tribunal decisions establish important precedents. Federal statutes are monitored for amendments through the Parliament of Canada website and the Canada Gazette. Ontario legislation updates are tracked through the Ontario Legislative Assembly. When an amendment affects content on any of our platforms, the relevant pages are updated to reflect the change.
Editorial Responsibility
The KnowMyRights portfolio is operated by 17695977 Canada Corp., a CBCA federal corporation. All content is founded and reviewed by A M Monjur Hassan. For questions about our editorial process or to report an error, contact us at contact@knowmyrights.ca.
Limitations
Our platforms provide legal information, not legal advice. While we take care to ensure accuracy, Canadian law is complex and changes over time through legislative amendments, regulatory updates, and new court or tribunal decisions. The information on our platforms may not reflect the most recent legal developments. General information cannot account for the specific facts of your situation. Before taking legal action or making decisions based on information here, consult a qualified lawyer or licensed paralegal in your jurisdiction.
Report an Error
Accuracy is our highest priority. If you find information on any KnowMyRights platform that appears incorrect, outdated, or misleading, please contact us at contact@knowmyrights.ca with the page URL and a description of the issue. We review all reports and correct verified errors promptly.
